If You Find Your Computer Running Slow

If You Find Your Computer Running Slow,
You May Be Able to Fix It Yourself!
Sometimes you probably think it's a conspiracy between the computer manufacturers and the computer repair
companies. Every time you buy a new computer, it only takes a few months for it to start running really slowly.
However, it's probably not a conspiracy. There are a few things that you can do at home before you take it to a
repair shop that might fix the problem.
Get a Good Registry Cleaner
The number one cause of a slow computer is usually found in the registry. Think of the registry as your
computer's control center. This is what controls your operating system and many of the programs and applications
that you use. If your registry contains errors, then more than likely your computer is running slow. The good news
is that this is an easy fix!
You only need to get a good registry cleaner. This will repair the errors and damage to the registry files and
make your computer run faster. You may also be surprised to find out that you can find many registry cleaners
online for free! Run the cleaner and you will see if there are problems that can be easily fixed with the
software.
Run the Computer's Defragment System Tool
When you first buy your computer, and you start adding programs and software, the files are stored right next to
each other on the hard drive. However, as you delete files, little part of the files are left on the hard drive.
This are called fragmented files. After awhile, these fragmented files make it much harder for your computer to
search for and use files or programs. When you defragment your computer, it removes these fragmented files and
allows your computer to run faster.
Almost all computers have this system tool available. It only takes a couple of clicks of the mouse for the
defragmenting process to start, but it can take quite a while for the process to finish. You may want to run this
program while you are sleeping. This should help if you find your computer running slow.
Other Reasons for A Slow Computer
There are also some other reasons why you've found your computer
running slow. Too many programs without enough space are one reason. Another is having too many programs open
at once for your processor speed. Both of these problems are easily fixed. You can uninstall some of the programs
that you no longer use and keep the number of programs you use at one time to a minimum.
A Few Final Thoughts
Since the registry errors are the most common cause for a computer running slow, this is probably the best place
to start. Look for the free registry cleaners online. You may easily be able to fix the problem once and for all.
However, if this does not seem to correct the issue, then you also need to try defragmenting your computer as well.
Since both of these options are free, what do you have to lose?
Slow Computer Problems Tip #1
Check your internet cache. Not only does every single page you look at on the internet get stored into a history
folder in the depths of your computer, but every single part of those pages gets saved as a separate file in what
is known as the cache folder. Yes, every single tiny graphic gets stored in its own file. That green dot that
repeats twelve times as an illustration of bullet points? Twelve separate gif files in your cache. Make sure you
clean out the cache often.
Slow Computer Problems Tip #2
Ad ware is the devil. Ad ware can be attached to your computer by any number of sites (though it is most
famously used by sites of an "adult" nature). This ad ware keeps track of where you go online like a cookie does,
but ad ware is typically a covert program that slows down the computer to make it easier to track where you go. Run
a spy ware or ad aware program on a regular basis to keep these programs and files at bay.
Slow Computer Problems Tip #3
Defragment your hard drive regularly. Sometimes parts of your files get corrupted. The more files that are
corrupted or "fragmented," the more slowly your computer will run. A defragmentation of your hard drive should be
done on a regular basis. It is a long process, so the defragmenting program is best run overnight.
